THE Boston Arms moved to within touching distance of Sir Robert Peel in Division One of the Chalk Farm Pool League on Monday night after beating their rivals at their home table in Tufnell Park.

Pat McCaghy and his doubles partner Paul McConville secured the all-important fifth frame as Andy Hillyer’s side twice came from behind to win the thrilling nine-frame contest.

Despite losing, Peel remain top of the table having amassed 68 points from their opening nine games. But their lead over second placed Boston is now just six points following the N19 team’s impressive victory.

League chairman Shaun Pollard is hoping that the battle at the top will go on until the final day of the season.

“As it stands just six points separate the defending champions, Sir Robert Peel, from the chasing pack – with Boston Arms and Cousins Elite both sitting joint second in the table,” he said.

“It would be great to see the championship go down to the wire, with all three teams still in the running on the final day.”
