CAPTAIN Michael Slattery tipped Golden Lion to roar away with the Division Two title in the Chalk Farm Pool League after his side became the latest team to be mauled by the table-toppers on Monday night.

Led by pitiless potter Shaun Pollard, Golden Lion clawed their way to a 6-3 victory over Slattery’s at their home table in Camden Town, a result that leaves them five points clear of their closest rivals.

Shaun, who joked that he would now lose his next game after being praised by our sports desk for his performances this season, was again in unplayable form as he made it four wins out of four in the individual matches. He then teamed up with Aaron Gourlay to also make it four wins out of four in the doubles.

“I think it will be a close division this year,” said Michael afterwards.

“We have a couple of new players that we have added and once they’ve settled in we hope to be up there battling for promotion at the business end of season,” he said.

“At the moment, however, it’s hard to see past Golden Lion.”
